Dekaizen and #StartupSouth Sign Agreement to jointly drive SportsTech Innovation in Africa

  • Co-host a first of its kind SPORTS MEET TECH Session at #SouthupSouth8

Dekaizen – full service and experiential consumer engagement and Sports Marketing agency and #StartupSouth – Nigeria’s leading Startup & Innovation Ecosystem development and advocacy organization has announced a collaboration to jointly develop the SportsTech Innovation Ecosystem in Africa starting from Nigeria.

The firms announced their collaboration to host the first ever Sports meet Tech Session as part of the flagship #StartupSouth8.

The session will offer a valuable opportunity for the Nigerian sports industry to assess its readiness for the integration and acceptance of tech in sports.

The event will take place on October 5-8, 2023 and it will be Hybrid.

Speaking on the groundbreaking partnership in the sports industry, Chief Task Assigner of Dekaizen, Femi Abioye says the idea will open the doors for the technological development and innovation in Nigerian sports.

“The opportunity will birth the growth of indigenous Innovation and technology development in the entire Sports Ecosystem in Nigeria and we are glad to be laying the foundation with this MOU and first step.”

Now in its 8th edition, #StartupSouth Conference is the flagship community event and an annual convening of top founders, stakeholders and investors within the National & Continental Startup (Digital & Creative Economy) ecosystem which is held in Port Harcourt with Pre-events held in several cities across the South-South/South-East.

Also speaking about the collaboration, the Convener of #StartupSouth, Uche Aniche, said, “my team is excited to be working with Femi and the Dekaizen Team on this collaboration. The promise and possibilities of the Innovation Ecosystem needs to be unleashed across all sectors of our economy. There’s no better time to do this in sports – especially now that our country is pushing to recognize sports properly as an economic sector and not just leisure. The ultimate goal of the collaboration is the Sports-Tech Nigeria Hub which will support and empower Innovative Sports startups as well as foster innovation and technological solutions that serve the local Sporting community and global sports industry needs.”

According to the statement, the SportsTech Session which is co-developed and co-managed by both organizations will feature veterans from the Sports and Technology industry and provides an opportunity for organizations to showcase their solutions.
