#StartupSouth Collaborates for Small-scale Internet Service Provider Operations Masterclass

#StartupSouth collaborates with Initiative for Digital Inclussion towards the successful hosting of the Small-scale Internet Service Provider Operations Masterclass – a Free 2 days capacity development program for existing/aspiring Small-scale Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other Last-mile Connectivity Providers (LMCPs) in unserved and underserved areas within the South-South/South-East regions of Nigeria.

In the era of digital economy, adequate access to Internet is the most important infrastructure for any serious society. A World Bank report estimates that a 10% increase in broadband will result in a GDP growth of about 1.38% in developing countries.

While Nigeria Internet Users grew by a whooping 63000% (between Q4, 2000 and Q1, 2021) to approximately 126 Million, there still exist a huge gap because internet services remain concentrated in townships and urban areas leaving semi-urban and rural areas without connectivity.

Small-scale Internet Service Providers filling this gap on the other hand, are hugely limited by lack of knowledge, capacity and resources.

The Small-scale Internet Service Provider Operations Masterclass which is sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and organized by the Initiative for Digital Inclusion will expose founders to cutting edge information in the areas of finance, product development, technology and more enabling them to grow and scale their ISP operations.
